•Tadewara Marsh is one of the largest intermediate moor in Japan. Its area is about 38 ha. , its altitude is about 1,000m. Surrounded by Kuju mountain range, it creates a unique ecosystem reflecting various kinds of geological and topographical features. This marsh maintains its vegetation thanks to the cold and pluvial environment, and also by a controlled burning conducted by local people. Tadewara Marsh, a wetland produced by the bounty of nature and human effort, was designated under the Ramsar Convention as an important wetland in the world.
